How to Find Out What's Working for Your Competitors on Instagram in 5 Minutes
I used to open competitors' profiles one by one and manually jot down in notes whatever was working for them. An hour, sometimes two, in a single sitting, and that was just for one niche.
I don't do that anymore. I open Virale inside ChatPlace, type in the niche, and the tool finds the competitor accounts itself and breaks down which of their reels actually took off.
What the tool does, step by step
Three things that used to eat up an entire evening.
Finds competitors. You type in the niche, and the tool pulls in relevant accounts on its own, no need to remember or hunt them down manually.
Breaks down what's working for them. It looks at competitors' top-performing reels and, against that backdrop, audits your own account: what's off compared to the niche, what's worth changing first.
Builds a 2-week content plan. What you get isn't just a list of other people's reels you'd still have to turn into ideas yourself: it's a finished plan with actual topics.
Why doing this by hand doesn't hold up over time
The problem isn't that manual analysis is impossible. The problem is that it's impossible to keep doing consistently. Reviewing a dozen competitors' feeds once is doable. Doing it every single week, on top of filming, editing, and writing captions, is where the hours simply run out.
That's why manual competitor research is the first thing to fall out of the week, and without it, your content plan gets built out of whatever comes to mind, not out of what's actually working in the niche right now.
Why this isn't a scraper logging in with your password
One detail matters here: Virale connects to Instagram through the official API, not by emulating a browser login with your password, the way a lot of shady scrapers do. So your account isn't exposed to the risk of a ban for suspicious activity.
That's the one safety-related fact I'll state outright. I'm not going to cite percentages for reduced ban risk. I don't have measurements like that.
What I get out of it
The 2-week content plan doesn't arrive as a bare list of topics. Every topic already comes with a codeword attached to a funnel, the same "comment the word" mechanic I use in every post with a call to action. No need to come up with a separate word for each new topic; the plan bundles it in from the start.
What else is in the same window
Besides competitor analysis and the content plan, the same window lets me check niche trends, generate videos and carousels around those trends, and set up a bot with funnel analytics. Everything in one place, instead of a dozen open tabs for every separate task.
Who this is for
Anyone running content solo who genuinely doesn't have time each week to scroll through a dozen competitors' feeds just to figure out what to film next. The tool doesn't invent the content for you. It shows you what's already working for others in the niche and turns that into a plan you still adapt to your own voice.
One thing it doesn't solve: the actual topic of the video, your own angle, what you want to say to your audience. That's still your job. The tool cuts down the research time; it doesn't replace the meaning behind it.
Bottom line
I'm a ChatPlace ambassador and I use Virale every day in my own work. This isn't disguised advertising, it's a tool I genuinely rely on. What used to take an hour or two of manual competitor analysis per sitting now takes a few minutes in a single window.
If you'd like to try it yourself, comment ТРЕНД to the bot on Telegram, and I'll send you free access to Virale for 14 days along with activation instructions. Your account isn't at risk: the tool connects through Instagram's official API. More tool breakdowns live in the "Growing with AI" channel, and I wrote about the other AI tools I keep in the same window as Virale in the article "4 AI Tools Inside ChatPlace Instead of Four Subscriptions".
