The Visualize Skill in ChatGPT Turns Long Text Into a Clear Visual Screen
Every expert has a handbook, a guide, or meeting notes that nobody reads to the end as text. On August 24, 2026, OpenAI posted a demo of the Visualize skill on its official channel, which solves exactly this problem: it builds a ready-made screen out of dense text right inside the chat.
Below is an honest breakdown of the official video "Make information visual with ChatGPT" (channel @OpenAI, host Katia Gil Guzman). This is a look at their demo, not my own test: I haven't checked whether the skill is available on a specific plan or in a specific region, and I'm telling you that up front.
What the demo shows
In the video, they take a long document, meeting notes. Instead of reading it line by line, they type a request into the chat to build a visual summary from it. ChatGPT produces a ready screen with a project title and blocks: what was decided, what deadlines were set, what still needs a decision. Everything is visible at a glance, without scrolling through text from top to bottom.
You can edit the screen with words, no editor needed
Next in the demo, the result is edited right in the dialogue. They ask to add a calendar view, and a September calendar with colored event tags by date immediately appears on screen. You don't need to open a separate editor or builder. The edit goes through the same text request as the first build.
The finished result can be copied or published as a link
At the end of the demo, a menu with two options opens: copy the result as an image, or publish it as a separate page with a link you can share. So the result leaves the chat and becomes either a ready file to send or a lightweight web page.
What the skill does
Judging by the demo, the Visualize skill has one job: turn a long text material into a clear interface without manual layout. It works through an ordinary text request in the chat, not through a separate design tool.
What to know before you go looking for the skill
An honest word about the limits, so you don't end up disappointed. According to the video, the skill is announced for ChatGPT and for Codex. Whether it's available on your specific plan and in your specific region, I have no official confirmation as of this review, and OpenAI doesn't say so in the video. Before building a workflow on it, check availability yourself.
Who this might be useful for
Experts who have materials written as text: handbooks, regulations, consultation notes, course programs. People open and close such material as text, while the same content on a single screen gets used more often. It will also help anyone who prepares reports for clients or partners: less time spent manually laying out a presentation from text you already have.
I covered a similar principle, where an AI tool builds a ready presentation from your material, in other articles too, for example how to choose an AI model for a specific task.
Bottom line
The Visualize skill closes the gap between what an expert has already written and the form in which people actually look at and use it. According to the official demo, the process goes like this: one request builds the screen, the next request edits it, and the finished result is taken as an image or a link. I'll show my own run of this feature separately, as soon as I get to it myself.
